‘Strictly
Birding’
January 26th – “WILDLIFE
CONSERVATION” concerns us all. Tonight we are joined by
‘Urbanbirder’ and TV presenter DAVID LINDO, together with author
STEPHEN MOSS (another birder), perhaps best known as the producer
of wildlife series, many presented by Bill Oddie. David gives all
‘Townies’ one piece of advice – look up – it’s amazing what you can see, even in an urban
area! Evening
sponsored by MARK MOBILITY CENTRE, Holland-on-Sea

the dawn chorus and two mini series ‘Gardenwatch’ and ‘Beachwatch’.
David Lindo
is The Urban
Birder…and
who says bird watching can’t be cool? David, 36 has been birding for as long as he can remember, for his 8th
birthday his mum bought him his very first pair of binoculars – whilst the other kids were occupied with bikes
and footballs, David had his eyes to the skies! David says: “I’ve always been into birds and wildlife; it must
be something to do with a previous life because I had no early influences and grew up in an urban black
neighbourhood.”
David believes
nature is all around us and that you don’t have to be in the middle of the countryside – the city can be just as
exciting. His favourite London
urban setting (or patch) is Wormwood Scrubs, known
for jailbirds and wild birds alike. The Scrubs was the focus for David’s latest television appearance on
BBC Springwatch where he watched for a variety of different species
alongside celebrity nature expert, Bill Oddie.
When David
isn’t birding he works as PA to a commercial director and as a DJ. Previously Head of Membership at the
British Trust for
Ornithology and the author of many articles on urban birdlife, David is both a city slicker and
an urban-nature junkie. A man about town, in his right blazer pocket you’ll find his MP3 player and in his left
his binoculars – never knowing when a birding opportunity might pop up, he’s always prepared.
