Arts Lits Programme Starting 2021

January 11th – The New Year starts with ‘JEREMY SASSOON’S MOJO’. Jeremy has become one of the UK’s most in demand singer pianists. His show will chart the history of Jewish writers through the ages, including compositions from the great George Gershwin, Bob Dylan to Amy Winehouse.        THE SQN.LDR. HARTLEY EVENING.                       

January 18th – Presenting GRAHAM HOYLAND, author, sailor, producer, director and climber. Graham was responsible for finding the body of George Mallory on Mount Everest, he will be talking about that and the mythical Yeti.                    

January 25th – This evening PROFESSOR DENISE SYNDERCOMBE-COURT will be talking about the use of DNA evidence in criminal justice. Professor of Forensic Genetics specialising in identification of people using DNA and other genetically inherited factors, she has an active interest in promoting science.                                                                           

February 1st–MATTHEW JONES and ANNABEL THWAITE present ‘AN EVENING OF PIANO and VIOLIN’. Matthew is acknowledged as one of the leading violists of his generation as a soloist or chamber musician. Whilst Annabel is recognised as one of Britain’s most versatile and charismatic pianists.

February 8th– Tonight JOHN SUCHET, newsreader, TV presenter and musical host on Classic FM, speaks about ‘BEETHOVEN’S 250th ANNIVERSARY the man revealed’. John will share the drama, loves, conflicts and successes of the musical genius

February 15th – This evening TINA MAY and her musicians present ‘EDITH PIAF: A CELEBRATION OF A LEGEND’. Award winning jazz, cabaret and recording artiste Tina, brings to life the music of Edith Piaf, France’s most beloved entertainer, national icon and musical legend.

February 22nd – Tonight’s penultimate presentation is ‘AN EVENING in the COMPANY of JULES HUDSON’, writer, broadcaster and TV presenter. Jules grew up in Colchester and attributes his love of history to the Essex town. Now living in the West country, he is known to many as a presenter of Escape to the Country and Countryfile Diaries.                                                                             

March 1st – To close our season the great sound of EASY STREET. Presenting an exciting show featuring a varied programme of music, song and dance, based on music from all four corners of the United Kingdom.      

March 22nd – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS 2019/20 & 2020/21 together with entertainment. NEIL HURST presents ‘Britain Had Talent’. A one man show celebrating Britain’s golden era of Music Hall and Variety. Sponsored In memory of Mrs Aspinall.
