Last Monday evening at the Princes Theatre, the members of Clacton Arts & Literary Society enjoyed a fun filled visit from Christopher Biggins. With hilarious stories from his lifetime in show business, he recounted his appearances in ‘Porridge’ and ‘Master Chef’ to name but two. We were also reminded of his love of playing Pantomime Dames and of the fabulous costumes worn to amuse the audiences. He shared stories of the mind-blowing trials from ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’. One highlight was a video of Christopher spending a night with a fellow female contestant in an underground dungeon in complete darkness, accompanied by 200 rats, which earned everyone in the camp a full cooked breakfast. His cheery personality not only survived the various trials but also made him ‘King of the Jungle’. ‘Biggins’ seems to have popped up everywhere and in everything. It was no surprise that Christopher received a rapturous ovation and we all went home with a smile on our faces.
